Actor Rob Lowe Claims Peyton Manning Will Retire
Actor and Colts fan Rob Lowe has started a firestorm on Twitter, saying Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was going to retire today.
Here is Lowe’s first tweet around noon on the West Coast:
@RobLowe — Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts
He followed that up with this tweet to NFL Network’s Rich Eisen:
@richeisen My people are saying Manning will retire today. What do you hear? #NFL
Then his last tweet on the possible Manning retirement:
#Colts fans, let’s hope my info is wrong. Don’t like being wrong, but this time… I’m hoping #NFL #Manning
Manning hasn’t commented on the Lowe tweet, nor has the Indianapolis Colts.
Manning missed the entire 2011 season with a neck injury.
Update: ESPN’s Chris Mortenson tweeted this around 1 p.m. on West Coast:
Archie Manning laughed when he heard @RobLowe said Peyton will retire, “Noooo…he ain’t retiring. I think he would’ve told me.”
Mort also reports the Mannings are opening a sports-themed restaurant tonight. Archie insists Lowe’s tweets were no a publicity stunt.
